'Reasons not to crush on Adam:
He's my best friend's brother.
He's my neighbour.
He's the captain of the hockey team.
He's a serial monogamist who's sworn off dating.
Reasons not to fake date Adam:
See above.
He has no idea I actually like him—like really like him.
But do I listen to any of those really great reasons? Of course not.
Now, thanks to my amazing and convincing acting skills, one fake date ends with him being my fake fiancΓ© (oops!).
My bad crush has gotten me in way over my head.'

Bad Crush is the second book in the Campus Nights Series, and like all of Rebecca Jenshak's books, it can be read as a standalone. We return to Valley U, catching up with the group of young adults we grew to love in Secret Puck. This story delivers another adult sports, romance, with hockey once again at the centre. This time, the tropes shift to best friends' brother with a dash of fake dating adding just the right amount of tension and fun.
Rebecca Jenshak does such a great job of building connections between characters while keeping each love story fresh and engaging, making it easy to get swept back into Campus life!

We first met our male love interest as the protective big brother - the dependable on everyone trusts. Now he's in his final year of college, captain of the hockey team, balancing brutal practices with late- night studying. All while chasing the scholarship that could secure his future in med school. But ambition has a cost. How far is he willing to go to get what he wants? And how big of a lie is he willing to live with to protect it all?

As pressure builds and serects pile up, the lines between duty, desire and deception begin to blur. When feelings he never planned for start to take root, he's forced to confront a terrifying question: What happens when Mr 'I can always move on' meets someone he can't?
With a close- knit friend group. Facing new dynamics, unexpected conflicts, and emotional fallout. This next chapter promises higher strakes, deeper relationships and the kind of drama that changes everything.

'The thing about being this happy? I don't think I'll ever be able to settle for happy enough again'

AdamπŸ’πŸ’

Adam moves through relationships like a revolving door- always falling fast, always letting go just as easily. A hopeless romantic, he's in love with the idea of love more than the reality of it. With his boys by his side and his future carefully mapped out, Adam thinks he knows exactly where his life is headed.

What he never saw coming?

One of his closest friends has been quietly in love with for nearly two years. A secret that changes everything is this the kind of love Adam has been searching for all along- or will crossing that line shatter the friendship and depends on the most?
As feelings surface and boundaries blur, Adam must decide whether this revelation is a gift... or the one mistake he can't walk away from.

Reagan πŸŽπŸŽ

Reagan is a girls girl - through and through. Fiercely loyal, unapologetically herself, and a ride - or - die friend, she's built her own version of family. Growing up without the white- picket- fence American dream. he college friends are her world, her safety net and the only family she's ever really known.

so when one of them becomes her crush, everything gets complicated.

Armed with far too much knowledge of his dating profile- now practically a playbook- Reagan agrees to fake dating him for reasons she insists are purely practical. No feelings. No fantasies. Just acting. But pretending is dangerous when the role starts to feel rest.

As lines blur between performance and truth, Reagan must put her acting skills to the ultimate test: can she keep her heart out of the spotlight, or will centre stage finally claim more than just her talent?

When Adam finally becomes single, Reagan wonders if this is her chance to confess- to her girlfriends and to Adam- that she's been crushing on him, hard. Once the truth comes out, Adam is left questioning how he could have been so blind for so long. Her soon realizes that this- fake or not- is the best relationship he's ever had.

Through ups and downs, friends and found family, the relationship is put to the test. But after watching the relationship goals he admired in his parents fall apart, Adam sense of love and stability is shaken. Will this through him off centre, or will he come through it with a clearer understanding of what love really means?

And in the end will Adam finally get his happily ever after?

πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’

Bad Crush was everything I could ask for in a fake dating story. I loved the way the characters were built, especially getting to know Reagan better and seeing her vulnerable side. While a few parts felt a little samey, it didn't take away from my overall enjoyment. I always enjoy the background characters and watching them grow, as well as catching references to main characters from pervious books.

This story really set up the next book perfectly and I'm excited to see how the best love match plays out in book #3 of the series.

Another win by Rebecca Jenshak
