The Fade away is the #2
book in the Smart Jocks series, written by Rebecca Jenshak but like all books
in this series could be read as a standalone!
This book is for all the single mums out there—doing it
on your own, not complaining, just getting by while trying to grow and thrive.
And then there’s the cheeky, fun-loving athlete who
finally gets the wake-up call he needs: you can’t always get what you want
right away.
We first met Katrina back in the very first Smart Jocks book—a bit of a mystery, never giving too much of herself away. What we do know? She’s hardworking, focused, and driven.
But when her daydream bubble suddenly bursts and he
finally starts noticing her, only one question remains…
When will she say yes to a date?
“Come on. I’ve been asking you out for five months. Throw a guy a bone…. Or, you know, let me stick mine in you.”
Joel🏀🏀
Cheeky, charming, and a self-proclaimed manwhore—that’s
Joel Moreno.
Or at least, that’s what you’re led to believe in the first book.
But in Joel and Katrina’s story, you quickly learn the
truth: Joel is a family man, fiercely loyal, and an all-around 10.
And when it comes to winning over his “Kitty,” Joel
proves one thing—when there’s a will, there’s always a way.
Katrina👩👦
What a heroine!
Katrina is chasing her dream of becoming a screenwriter while raising a
toddler—and doing it all without relying on anyone else. Even with the
disappointment of a baby daddy who can’t seem to make time for his son, she
never makes it anyone else’s problem or asks for help.
Katrina has girl power written all over her.
Watching Joel grow and Katrina slowly lower her walls
has been an absolute joy to read. Together, they’re the perfect balance—the
harsh truths of reality mixed with the dreamland escape we all crave.
With the usual college drama, gossip, and pressures
woven in, this book truly has it all. And I, for one, can’t wait to see how a
single mum continues to fit into the rest of the Smart Jocks series.
💭💭💭
This was my first single-mum storyline, and it did not
disappoint. I loved watching both characters grow, especially the bond that
developed between the male lead and the son.
The way Rebecca Jenshak writes makes everything feel
authentic—never too much, never too silly. Every character’s feelings and point
of view truly matter, and that’s what makes this story so special.
