Broken Hearts is the third book in the Campus Nights series, and like all of Rebecca Jenshak’s novels, it can be read as a standalone. This instalment delivers an adult sports romance that plays out both on and off the ice, with a much-anticipated hate-to-love trope.
Fans finally get the backstory they’ve been asking for—the one behind the resident off-limits hockey player. After lingering in the background for the first two books, this third instalment shines a spotlight on Rhett, the quiet, guarded presence who has kept to himself… until now.
Our leading man is a member of the Valley U hockey team we’ve been following for the last two books. Previously a shy side character who kept to himself, Rhett has always stayed on the sidelines—but that’s about to change when he quite literally tackles his way into our new leading lady.
Until now, everything we’ve known about Rhett is that his entire college experience has revolved around two things: hockey and a long-distance relationship. But for the first time in six years, Rhett is finally single… and everything he thought he knew about himself is about to be challenged. With the pressure of figuring out where life will take them after college, both are determined to make the most of their final year. But as Rhett embraces his newfound freedom, can he really keep the past from catching up with him?
With friendships pushed to their limits, lines begin to blur, and not everything can stay buried forever.
'No, I got lucy. Ifist his T-Shirt in my palm to drag him closer. I got really, really lucy the day Rhett collided into me. And every day since.'
Rhett 🏒🏒🏒
Rhett Rauthruss is a hockey player at Valley U who has spent the last six years in a long-distance relationship with his high school sweetheart. When they finally go their separate ways, Rhett finds himself single—and ready to experience everything college has to offer.
That plan shifts the moment he meets a gorgeous figure skater who instantly captures his attention. Determined and persistent, Rhett keeps asking her out, refusing to give up on the chance to win her over… even when she keeps saying no,
Sienna ⛸️⛸️⛸️
Sienna Hale is a student at Valley University in Arizona who dedicates all her time to skating and planning for her future. With her final year of college underway, she has no time to waste—her goals are clear, and she knows exactly what matters.
Everything changes when she crosses paths with a hockey player she can’t stop thinking about. Their chemistry is undeniable, and no matter how hard she tries, she finds him impossible to resist. As two driven college athletes collide on and off the ice, the question remains: will what’s building between them be worth fighting for?
As Rhett learns more about Sienna—her fight not only for skating, but for her life—the passion in the story truly takes off. From their heart-stopping meet-cute to the tragic loss Rhett faces, the emotional stakes continue to rise.
What will being single really look like for Rhett now? With both of them driven by their own goals and passions, can these two push past everything life throws at them and stand the test of time?
💭💭💭
WOW—this one absolutely blew me out of the water. By a long shot, this is my favourite book in the series so far! The ups and downs, the rollercoaster ride this story takes you on, had me reading well into the early hours of the morning.
Rebecca wrote this storyline with such care and kindness, and it only deepened my love for the Valley U world she’s created. Words honestly can’t describe how amazing this story was. I went in unsure and a little reserved about who our leading lady would be—but wow, was I wrong. She was exactly what this group needed and delivered in every possible way.
This is Rebecca Jenshak at her absolute finest.
